Bishop Matthew Hassan CoupKa (Kukah) of Sokoto dioceses has stirred the hornet's nest. He has murdered sleep & may sleep no more. He dabbled into an area outside his calling. Men of God of his calibre are known to be apolitical in nature & are known to always put their tongue in check in matters concerning politics & governance.
Recently, he made an allusion that if PMB were to be a President of southern origin a coup d' etat would have been in the offing due to the fact that his administration is entrenched in nepotism.
His comments drew severe criticism & condemnation from unreserved quarters & other well meaning Nigerians.
Bishop Kukah would have made his statement diplomatically without whipping up sentiments & indirectly calling for coup d'etat in Nigeria in order to score cheap political gains.
Northerners are very accommodating people & this can be seen from events that unfolded during the the administration of GEJ as the northerners never called for a coup d'etat or war but instead realigned to win the election of 2015.
The Bishop may also have forgotten that nepotism thrived more during the time of GEJ but because he favoured South East & South South mostly & no dust was raised.
This was how nepotism was sustained during the time of Goodluck Jonathan.

A subtle call for a coup d'etat by a notable figure like Bishop Kukah can not be alluded to be constructive criticism. It should be treated with disdain.
People like Kukah should not be a Member of a Peace Committee. Bitter people have nothing to do with peace. What the Bishop said is the most irresponsible thing to proceed from the mouth of an acclaimed man of God!
Hassan Kukah claims to be a Bishop. I don't know the strength of his laity and clergy and how he became Bishop but he definitely isn't a Bishop anymore!
For so doing, Bishop Hassan Kukah is a meddlesome interloper. He is a good example of the saying: a hood does not make a monk. Or is Bishop Kukah also among the Shakabulas? Am just asking.
I started being cautious of his pronouncements when he accepted with two hands to be the vice chairman of the governing council of American University of Nigeria, owned by a former Vice President of Nigeria Alhaji Abubakar, & recently in 2015 he stepped out to lend credence to the candidature of Atiku Abubarkar, as against that of the current President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, who majority of Nigerians know as a pious man & as a man of higher integrity than Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Waziri Adamawa.
